She's always played it safe... College junior Lucy Washington abides by one rule-avoid risk at all costs. She's cautious in every aspect of her life, from her health, to her mock trial team, to the boring guys she dates. When a brash, gorgeous jock walks into the campus coffeeshop and turns his flirt on, Lucy is stunned by the force of attraction. For the first time ever, she's willing to step out of her comfort zone, but can she really trust the guy who's determined to sweep her off her feet? He's always played around... Entering his last year of college eligibility, linebacker Matthew "Matty"Iverson has the team captaincy in his sights. And it's his for the taking, if he can convince his quarterback Ace Anderson to give up the starting position. Luckily, Matty already has an edge-the hottie he's lusting over just happens to be Ace's childhood best friend. Getting Lucy on his sideandin his bed? Hell yeah. Matty is more than confident he can have both, but when he falls hard for Lucy, it's time for a new game plan: convince the woman of his dreams that she's not sleeping with the enemy."
Jockblocked is the second book in the Gridiron Series. It revolves around Matty who is the guy who doesn’t take much seriously. We met Matty in the first book Sacked. I was hoping for Hammer’s book but I ended up liking Matty’s book more then the first book.
Although this is the second book in the series, it can be read as a standalone. You don’t necessarily need to read Sacked to understand Jockblocked.
Jockblocked takes places a couple months after Sacked ends. Matty is up to be the team captain after Knox declares for the draft except there was one problem. And that one problem sets the tone for the entire book.
The story is about friendship, loyalty and learning to take a risk. It was sexy and I loved the slow burning romance between Matty and Luce.
Matty really grew from beginning to end. I loved how he really manned up about the team and Luce. It was really great to see him grow into his own.
I have to say Luce was my favorite heroine. I loved how she grew from beginning to the end. She was timid at first and I felt like towards the end she was ready to take a risk and really put herself out there.
Ace was another character that had a main role in Jockblocked. But gosh he was an asshole and I don’t see how Jen could make me love him but I’ll trust her and you’ll see a review of Downed on Friday.
I am excited to see where this series is going and I’m really hoping to see a book about Hammer and Heather. Jockblocked was my favorite out of the two so I’m excited to see how Downed turns out.
