First, I’d like to wish you a very Happy New Year! I wish you nothing but the best in 2019. It was four years ago today, I posted my first blog post. Crazy, right?
I was thinking of what to write for my blogversary post and I thought I’d share with you how I came up with both of my blog names.
Say my name, Say my name,
It was about 5 years ago, I was on maternity leave staying up all hours of the night feeding Little 3. It was during this time, I was reading a lot. I had flirted with ideas of blogs over the years, I had a couple mommy blogs but I didn’t feel apart of the mommy community. Then I somehow stumbled upon a couple book blogs and it inspired something in me. Like I finally found the community I was looking for. So I started looking for more book blogs and then I discovered bookstagram. It was like a whole new world opened up to me.
I started taking notes, seeing blogs that have review policies, ratings, reviews, etc. and it slowly started turning into an idea. But I needed a name. For the life of me, I couldn’t come up with something cute so I ended up with Tina The Bookworm. It wasn’t the best nor was it original but it was the start.
Then about 2 years into blogging, I started feeling stuck and ready for a change. I felt like Tina The Bookworm couldn’t give me the room for growth. I felt like Tina The Bookworm meant all I could post was anything book related. So I started coming up with tons of blog names, some I wish I could use. But I can barely handle As Told By Tina so there’s no way I can handle another blog.
Rebranding yourself is scary. Will people forget I exist? Will people even notice? But I decided, I needed the change. I wanted to grow because I had outgrown Tina The Bookworm. It was actually my snapchat followers (when I had a snapchat) that helped me narrow down my blog names.
So, how did I get As Told By Tina? Well, have you ever heard of the cartoon As Told By Ginger.
It was my favorite cartoon growing up and I wanted something that could be used neutrally. I didn’t want to be just a book blog. I wanted to be me. That meant, book reviews, TV/Movie reviews, mommy hood, anything I felt like posting and I was going to tell you all about it. Kind of like Ginger use to do writing her day from her perspective.
I am so glad I decided to take a leap of faith and change my blog name. If you are on the fence about changing your blog name, follow your heart. If you truly feel like you’ve outgrown your current blog name, change it. Reinvent yourself. I totally believe in you.
Thank you so much for sticking by me these past four years. Thank you for dealing with my long absences. Thank you for sticking by me with the numerous changes I’ve made. THANK YOU!
