The Chatroom: The Switch From Print Books To Ebooks

Welcome to The Chatroom! The Chatroom is where we discuss anything and everything! Today I decided to link up with Book Blogger Hop to answer this week’s question: Have You Made The Switch From Print to E-Books? Is Either One Exclusive? Personally for me, I have almost exclusively switched to EBooks and I’m going to share with you the reasons why I switched and the rare cases that I will still purchase a print book. My Reasons For Loving EBooks: EBooks tend to be cheaper than physical books. There are some very rare instances where an eBook is more expensive than a physical book and when this happens I will probably buy the physical book. MORE SPACE. So I’m a mom of three and we are tight on space. I have one bookshelf and my closet. So I tend to not buy physical books. I tend to lean towards eBooks […]

The Chatroom : My Read Rating (January 2019)

Welcome to The Chatroom! When I was younger, I use to spend hours in chatrooms and message boards on AOL. It is actually the place where I “met” some of my best friends through these chatrooms and I’ve been friends with them for over 10 years. When I was redesigning, I was trying to think of a cute thing to call my discussions and decided on the chatroom. So grab something to drink and lets talk about My Read Rating. I once saw Lili from Utopia State Of Mind write a post about her Read Rating. And I’ve been meaning to do it. This was something I finally got around to doing after doing a massive deep cleaning of my room which included my shelf. I personally only calculated only the books that I was keeping. I have two bags full of books that I no longer want so I […]

Let’s Discuss | My Audiobook Habits

June is audiobook month and in honor of Audiobook Month, I thought I would talk to ya’ll about my audiobook habits. I’m a huge fan of audiobooks especially over the last year, I found myself listening to more audiobooks then reading a physical or ebook and I’ve had some audiobook habits I thought I’d share with you. My Audiobook Habits 1. I am not a huge fan of contemporary novels on audiobook. I’m not sure why but I haven’t found the right narrators for a contemporary novel. I feel like once I find the right narrators, I’ll be enjoying it more. But for the most part, I’ll stick to reading contemporary novels. 2. I love fantasy, crime, thrillers and memoirs on audiobook. When I’m browsing through my library’s catalog of audiobooks, I realize I tend to gravitate towards, fantasy, crime/thrillers and memoirs. I love listening to fantasy novels on audio […]

Discussion | Do you review EVERY book you read?

It is no secret that I haven’t been writing reviews lately. Honestly for a book blog, I’m kinda shitty. I hardly write reviews anymore. In fact, if you find a review on here lately we should call it a miracle. I’ve been thinking about working on my review style but the most important question on my mind is: Do I NEED to review EVERY book I read? Most importantly: Do I WANT to review EVERY book I read? The answer to both is no. Now hear me out. 1. Sometimes I don’t have anything to say about the book. This can be the case when I’m reading a hyped book. Do I really need to recap every other review out there? The answer is no. What if the book was just okay? It wasn’t anything life changing, nothing totally special. Nothing I would highly recommend to others. Do I really […]

Tina vs. The Goodreads Challen..

Tina vs. The Goodreads Challenge 2.0

Last year, I decided not to participate in the Goodreads challenge (you can read the post here), I didn’t want to aim for a number so I set my goal to one and today I’m going to share with you what I learned about not doing the challenge and how much did I read. In 2017, I read 97 books. I didn’t count the books I beta read because some hadn’t come yet but if we had counted those I’m at 100. 1. If I didn’t pick up a book, I didn’t feel bad about it. Reading is definitely one of my favorite things to do but sometimes I find myself wanting to read more and putting less time into family. I tried my best to find an equal balance for that, I’m still trying to find a balance but now I don’t feel guilty if I don’t pick up […]

My Anti-Haul (#1)

Welcome to my first Anti-Haul post! I saw this on Taryn’s blog and thought it would be kind of fun to show the books I don’t plan on buying but maybe borrowing from the library. Truth be told, I haven’t really bought many books lately and I may do a post about that soon. But today, I’m showing you the books I don’t plan on buying this time around. My Anti-haul Turtles All The Way Down by John Green Reason: I’m not sure about this one, John Green is very hit or miss with me so I may just borrow this one from the library. I don’t have really high expectations for it since his books tend to be all the same. 27 Hours by Tristina Wright Reason: I’ve heard really good things about this one and not so good things about this one. Personally, it wasn’t something I wanted […]

A Weekly Recap | Surviving Fal..

A Weekly Recap | Surviving Fall Break

Welcome to my Weekly Recap! This is where I recap what I’ve read, watched, blogged about, books I purchased and the behind the scenes aspect of my life. I’ll be linking up to the Sunday post hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer and Stacking the Shelves by Tynga’s Reviews. This Week On As Told By Tina This Week In Reading This Week I Hauled I only hauled Harry Potter and The Prisoner of Azkaban but I didn’t take any pictures of it. This Week In My Life: The Littles were on Fall Break and we weren’t able to do anything fun during the week but we’re currently in Arizona right now. The Littles had doctor’s appointments and it turns out Little 1 has bronchitis but it was almost over so they didn’t recommend any medication. We just need to keep an eye on him. I’ve been working on my NanoWriMo project […]

I’m Reading But I’m Not Reviewing | A Discussion-ish

I’m going through a phase where I’m reading a ton of books and some of them are even really good books but I don’t want to review them. Honestly, it’s part I don’t want to review them part I can’t remember how to write a review. Here are some of the reasons I’m currently enjoying just reading and NOT reviewing. Some of the books I’ve read are hyped books (think When Dimple Met Rishi) and I felt like many people have already read the book and my review won’t matter. It’s going to get lost on goodreads or it’s going to be some variation of everything that has already been said. Could I add something different from what has already been said? Most of the time, I can’t so I just mark the book read on goodreads and move on. Are reviews even helpful or even wanted? I’ve been thinking […]

Discussion: The Goodreads Challenge

Every year since I signed up for Goodreads, I’ve participated in the goodreads challenge. And I’ve only accomplished my goal like two times out all those years I’ve accomplished my goal. When I joined the book community, I started seeing everyone’s goals and people had goals over 100. I of course set my goal to 150 but did I ever make it? Yeah, last year and I literally made it like an hour before 2017 came about. That was stressful. I read a ton of books, I probably would have never picked up. I was reading really short books, putting off the big books because that would put me back on my goal. I was tired of that. It was only a year. I had seen on Twitter people stating that setting your goal on Goodreads to one was cheating. I actually set my goal to one, is that cheating? […]
