ARC Review | The Second Coming by Carrie Aarons

The Second Coming is the first book in Carrie Aarons’ new series Rogue Academy. The Second Coming has a little bit of angst, steam and drama. It keeps you on your toes and you end up reading the entire thing one sitting. The Second Coming is a sort of spin off of Carrie’s previous novel Red Card, you actually don’t need to read Red Card to understand the Second Coming. However, it does have a bit of spoilers so if you want to read Red Card, I would but you don’t have to. What I liked: The Heroine – Aria! Aria is probably one of my top favorites of Carrie’s heroines. She is strong. She works multiple shifts at work to help her dad, she keeps her head down and works really hard. I loved how caring, sweet and honest she was. She wasn’t afraid to put herself first and […]

Blog Tour + Giveaway | Fictional-ish by Natalina Reis

Fictional-ish was a book I was looking forward to because I am a huge sucker for the friends to lovers trope. Fictional-ish was not what I was expecting and I’m still not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing. Fictional-ish is centered around Livie and Kyle. They have been best friends for ages and Livie has always had feelings for Kyle but has never acted on them until he decides to marry her enemy. I did find the whole enemy thing to be a little childish. However, I did find this to have a good twist to it. Livie ends up moving to Scotland to open up a bookstore and Kyle ends up following to “interview her”. I had a lot of trouble with this story because I absolutely loved Livie but I hated Kyle. I am team ANYBODY but Kyle. I felt like because he […]

ARC Review | The Unhoneymooners by Christina Lauren

The Unhoneymooners was a book that I was highly anticipating, and it did not disappointment. This is only my third Christina Lauren book, but I am loving their writing. The Unhoneymooners is a book that you can easily read in a day. And it will bring a huge smile on your face. The Story The Unhoneymooners is about Olive and Ethan. Olive is Amy’s twin sister and Ethan is Amy’s husband’s brother. The story began on Amy’s wedding day. When everything that could go wrong DOES. But in a way that was totally Amy’s fault. She won her entire wedding on sweepstakes (I also need to know her secrets because I hardly win anything). The entire wedding party comes down with a type of food poisoning except for Olive and Ethan because Olive is allergic to seafood and Ethan hates buffets. This really kicks off the story, so it was […]

Blog Tour | Boyfriend Bargain by Ilsa Madden-Mills

If you’ve followed my blog for a while, then you know that I absolutely love hockey romances even though I’ve never seen a hockey game in my life. I also have a deep love for fake dating, and it is one of my favorite tropes and Boyfriend Bargain had both of my favorite things. Boyfriend Bargain is a heartfelt college romance. I found myself intrigued from the first page. I was expecting a very light hearted read which is kind of what I was looking for but I’m glad Boyfriend Bargain delivered something deeper. Although, I thought the story could have gone just a little bit deeper. I loved Z and Sugar together. Their banter and chemistry were totally amazing, and I couldn’t put my phone down while reading. I also developed a true love for Eric and Julia, and I hope they get their own story because I definitely […]

ARC Review | Forgiven by Carrie Aarons

Forgiven is the second book in The Nash Brothers Series. You do not need to read Fleeting to read Forgiven but personally, I would recommend reading Fleeting. You get a bit of the backstory in Fleeting that helps set up Forgiven. This is a second chance romance between high school sweethearts. The Story We met Lily and Bowen in Fleeting. We were also privy to the fact that both of these had a history. Lily and Bowen were high school sweethearts who were madly in love; they had their future planned out. It wasn’t until one night ten years ago that Lily and Bowen were in a terrible car accident that scared both of them with scars that are both visible and some that aren’t. Lily has no clue how one night could destroy everything they had together, she was mainly looking for closure. She’s confused about the break up […]

ARC Review | Fleeting by Carrie Aarons

It all started with a dog who ate a pair of lace pink underwear. Fleeting is the first book in The Nash Brothers series. Fleeting is about the oldest Nash brother, Keaton. This is a small town romance where the hometown vet meets the city girl. I have read many of Carrie Aaron’s books and I have watched her grow as an author and I would say The Nash Brothers is probably be one of my favorite books by Carrie. I really enjoyed Fleeting. It is the perfect book to read in a day ESPECIALLY if you are in a reading slump. The story grabs you from beginning to end. The Story The story takes place in Fawn Hill. It is a very small town where everyone knows everything and everyone. There is no such thing as a secret because everyone is up in your business. I really loved the […]

ARC Review | Barely Missing Everything by Matt Mendez

Trigger Warnings: Drug Use, Domestic Violence, Gang Violence, Assualt, Murder, Alcohol use, Gun Violence, Racism, Violence, Police Brutality. I’ve been highly anticipating Barely Missing Everything since the moment it came across my radar back in 2017. When I saw it was finally releasing in 2019, I immediately began searching Edelweiss and Netgalley for an ARC. And finally Netgalley had the ARC but it took forever to get approved and honestly, I gave up waiting for my request to be approved. Then the day came and my request was approved and I was so excited. Barely Missing Everything is Matt Mendez’s debut novel. Barely Missing Everything is about pain, grief, and the thought of missing something, maybe it was something you had, and maybe it was something you wish you had. It was filled with anger, resentment, rejection, and disappointment. Now, you’re probably thinking well that doesn’t sound very well good? […]

#ReadYourWorld (MCBD2019) | All the Stars Denied By by Guadalupe Garcia McCall

Content/Trigger Warnings for: Racism and racial slurs, Kidnapping and abduction, Abuse, Violence. I hardly ever read historical fiction. There’s no real reason why just that it is not a genre that I personally find myself picking up. When it came time to pick a book for Multicultural Children’s Book Day, I wanted to read All The Stars Denied. Why? Well for starters, it is really hard to find books with Mexican Americans main characters in them. I also felt like I needed to read this because it felt like I could connect to the story in many ways. And third of all, I have been dying to read a Garcia-McCall book for a long time. My Review All The Stars Denied was everything I was expecting and more. It is a companion novel to Garcia McCall’s novel Shame The Stars. Personally, I didn’t read Shame The Stars and I feel […]

ARC Review | The Tenth Girl by Carrie Aarons

My first impressions of The Tenth Girl were that this cover is gorgeous. Carrie Aarons is the queen of gorgeous covers. I’ve read quite a few of Carrie Aarons novels and know that I can expect something light and quick. I’m just a little worried because Carrie writes more New Adult and this is Young Adult. But I’m excited to see what she does in The Tenth Girl. The Story The premise of The Tenth Girl reminded me slightly of my favorite movie ever She’s All That except this one is a bit messier. The bet in She’s All That is taking the most unpopular girl in school and making her the prom queen. The bet in The Tenth Girl is a group of football players making a bet to sleep with 10 girls before senior year and they win this key to a popular hang out in town. The […]

Release Day Blitz | You’re The One I Don’t Want by Carrie Aarons

First Thoughts before starting You’re The One I Don’t Want: I am really excited to read about Annabelle and Boone’s story. There were a few clues about their story in The Tenth Girl and it left me wanting more. The Story You’re The One I Don’t Want is a companion novel to The Tenth Girl. You definitely don’t need to read The Tenth Girl to read this. The story picks up a couple years after The Tenth Girl ends. Annabelle is in college and about to graduate. She’s also on a reality show similar to flipping houses. Boone is just drafted to Austin’s Triple A team and is also working towards finishing his degree before he makes it to the big leagues. I really loved how Carrie showed both Annabelle and Boone working towards their careers and also focusing on school. I feel like sometimes college-based characters never go to […]
