Blog Tour + Giveaway | Take It Off The Menu by Christina Hovland

Take it off the menu is the third book in the Mile-High Matched series. This can be read as a standalone. I haven’t read the previous books and I didn’t feel like I really missed anything other than some obvious spoilers (such as previous couples). The Story The story begins two days before Marlee’s wedding. It was going to be the Denver event of the year, the problem. The groom no longer wants to get married, leaving Marlee to cancel everything. Her bridesmaids get to work and start canceling everything and plan a last-minute trip to Vegas. Eli decides to go to keep his sister and her friends out of trouble. Only to find themselves in trouble. The story begins with a bit of trouble and progresses into a slow burn then fast forwards to a fast paced novel. I really enjoyed that because the writing sucked me in and […]

ARC Review | Falter by Carrie Aarons

Falter is the final book in The Nash Brothers series and the one book I was so excited to read. All these books can be read as standalone, but I’d recommend you read Fleeting, Forgiven and Flutter so you can get a bit of a backstory. The Story Falter takes place a couple years after the previous books. We have seen how Fletcher has grown throughout the books but in Falter he is centered stage. Here, we meet a sober Fletcher, he is struggling and working each and every day to maintain his sobriety. He works really hard to get it together. Ryan is back in town for the first time in a while. She’s taking a break from her job, from her life and just trying to find herself. In trying to find herself, she also has to conquer her demons head on. The Characters Ryan is Presley’s best […]

Audio Review | The Poet X by Elizabeth Acevedo

The Poet X is a book that I’ve had sitting on my kindle for a long time. It was also the July pick for the Latinx Book Club, so I figured, I need to pick this up NOW. My First Impression: I had heard through several people that I was going to love the Poet X. And it was a pretty hyped book and as you know, me and hype books have a very rocky relationship. So, I went in with the best intentions and I can say that I absolutely loved The Poet X. My Thoughts I loved the writing style of The Poet X. I was intrigued from the very beginning. I loved the way the story was told through the poetry and how it made me feel. I was happy, I was sad, I was confused, I was angry and above all I related to it A […]

Blog Tour + Giveaway | Trashed by Mia Hopkins

Trashed is the second book in the Eastside Brewery series. You could possibly read Trashed before Thirsty however, I’d recommend Thirsty first because Sal and because you see a bit of Trashed featured. The Story Eddie Rosas is a character we met in Thirsty. He is Sal’s younger brother and just like Sal is a fellow gang member and was just released from jail. He is attempting to stay out of trouble, but it seems like trouble just follows him everywhere. During this time, he met a girl and they had a one night (well it was daytime) stand. He never knew her name, but he was dying to see her again. And as fate would have it, they meet again. Eddie struggles with adjusting to life outside of prison and outside of the gang. For a long time, they were both a huge part of who he was. There […]

ARC Review | Thirsty by Mia Hopkins

Thirsty is the first book in the Eastside Brewery series by Mia Hopkins. Thirsty takes place in East Los Angeles in a very poor neighborhood plagued by gangs, drugs and shootings. Thirsty is a bit dirty and a bit dark but above all it was hopeful. Salvador Rosas is our main character and the story is told in his point of view. He has just been released from prison after being in there for five years. He is trying to be a better man, he is trying to stay out of trouble away from the gang that landed him in prison. He is trying to leave “Ghost” behind and become Salvador or Sal. Salvador aka Ghost is an ex felon, a gangster (or in my neighborhood we call them cholos). He is the oldest child of Dreamer Rosas and being jumped into the gang was part of his legacy, his […]

Blog Tour | Dating Roulette by D. Kelly

If you are in the mood for something quick, short and an adorable romance then you should pick up Dating Roulette. Dating Roulette was a cute friends to lovers meets roommates romance. I felt like I was about to get into a reading slump, so this was an easy way to get out of that. The Story Dating Roulette is centered around Bex and Tristan. Bex is a bit of serial dater who Tristan thinks is unusual. Bex is notorious for breaking things off with a guy before the 7th date. It could be simple as a guy may eat eggs with ketchup (personally, I think this is the only acceptable way to eat eggs). Tristan comes up with the idea that maybe he should get on Bex dating roulette and see if he can make it passed the seven dates. The story is fast paced which I usually don’t […]

Rant Review | The Perfect Date..

Rant Review | The Perfect Date by Evelyn Lozada

I should start off by saying that I went into this with relatively low expectations because I have read Evelyn’s previous book the Inner Circle and wasn’t blown away by it, but it was addicting. So, I figured that The Perfect Date reflected a lot of what I’ve seen on Basketball Wives when it came to Evelyn’s relationship with a baseball player. There were a ton of similarities between her real life and The Perfect Date. However, I WAS DUPED! Please, don’t let this adorable cover. The synopsis trick you. This IS NOT A ROMANCE. I REPEAT THIS IS NOT A ROMANCE. If you are expecting a cute contemporary fake dating novel, put the Perfect Date down and look else because this ain’t it. What I liked: The Heroine – Angel is a strong, independent, fighting woman, a bit short tempered and impulsive. However, she handles working, school and taking […]

ARC Review | The Second Coming by Carrie Aarons

The Second Coming is the first book in Carrie Aarons’ new series Rogue Academy. The Second Coming has a little bit of angst, steam and drama. It keeps you on your toes and you end up reading the entire thing one sitting. The Second Coming is a sort of spin off of Carrie’s previous novel Red Card, you actually don’t need to read Red Card to understand the Second Coming. However, it does have a bit of spoilers so if you want to read Red Card, I would but you don’t have to. What I liked: The Heroine – Aria! Aria is probably one of my top favorites of Carrie’s heroines. She is strong. She works multiple shifts at work to help her dad, she keeps her head down and works really hard. I loved how caring, sweet and honest she was. She wasn’t afraid to put herself first and […]

This Ain’t Disney | Pan by Gina Maxwell (Review)

Before starting this review, I have to warn you. If you are thinking this will include Mermaids, Pirates, and magic, you will be disappointed. The only magic that happens in Pan is between the sheets. Yes, you read that right. Pan is a modern contemporary romance of Peter Pan. This ain’t Disney so please don’t go into this thinking Peter and the gang will be young children. They are grown and living in Neverland North Carolina. There are similarities in the story to the original, such as the character names and I feel like Gina stayed true to the character’s personalities that Barrie created. Pan is of course the leader of the Lost Boys, and of course Tink. They are all orphans who live with a Mr. Croc who is absolutely terrible (this is also a trigger warning for child abuse, emotional, physical abuse, sexual abuse). Pan escapes the orphanage […]

ARC Review | The Unhoneymooners by Christina Lauren

The Unhoneymooners was a book that I was highly anticipating, and it did not disappointment. This is only my third Christina Lauren book, but I am loving their writing. The Unhoneymooners is a book that you can easily read in a day. And it will bring a huge smile on your face. The Story The Unhoneymooners is about Olive and Ethan. Olive is Amy’s twin sister and Ethan is Amy’s husband’s brother. The story began on Amy’s wedding day. When everything that could go wrong DOES. But in a way that was totally Amy’s fault. She won her entire wedding on sweepstakes (I also need to know her secrets because I hardly win anything). The entire wedding party comes down with a type of food poisoning except for Olive and Ethan because Olive is allergic to seafood and Ethan hates buffets. This really kicks off the story, so it was […]
