Review: Fluffy: A Child’s First Pet Experience by Selena Cintron

Fluffy is a picture book geared towards teaching kids about their first experience owning a pet. I loved the concept of Fluffy because my kids have been talking about wanting a pet and I felt like this book really taught them why I’m hesitant to bring a pet into our household. Fluffy teaches young readers about the responsibility of owning a pet. The book shows how one must walk and bathe a dog, teach it tricks and the full responsibility of owning a pet. Fluffy also sparked a conversation of why we should adopt and not buy our pets. It also brought up a good conversation about how the littles are not ready for a dog at this time but someday they will be. For the time being, they’ve been practicing their pet owning skills with a dog that was left near my grandma’s house. We’ve basically adopted him and […]

Review | The Goal by Elle Kennedy

The Off Campus is one of my favorite series ever. The Deal, The Mistake, The Score are books I re-read over and over again but I had been putting off The Goal. The Goal is the last book in The Off Campus series but each book can be read as a standalone. However, I recommend you read the entire series so that you can enjoy the series in its entirely. The Goal is centered on John Tucker or Tuck and Sabrina James. Both are characters we’ve seen in the other books but now they are front and center in their own book. Tucker’s story was the book I was eagerly anticipating because I just knew that Tucker was going to be hot. He’s always been the “motherly” figure and the calmer of the bunch compared to Dean and Garrett. He was also kind of a mystery. A bearded, tall, responsible […]

Review | Jockblocked by Jen Frederick

Jockblocked is the second book in the Gridiron Series. It revolves around Matty who is the guy who doesn’t take much seriously. We met Matty in the first book Sacked. I was hoping for Hammer’s book but I ended up liking Matty’s book more then the first book. The Story Although this is the second book in the series, it can be read as a standalone. You don’t necessarily need to read Sacked to understand Jockblocked. Jockblocked takes places a couple months after Sacked ends. Matty is up to be the team captain after Knox declares for the draft except there was one problem. And that one problem sets the tone for the entire book. The story is about friendship, loyalty and learning to take a risk. It was sexy and I loved the slow burning romance between Matty and Luce. The Characters Matty really grew from beginning to end. […]

Review | Sacked by Jen Frederick

It has been a while that I’ve read a New Adult book especially a sports romance. Like a really long time. I don’t even remember the last time I read one. Sacked is the first one I’ve read in a long time and I really enjoyed it. Sacked is the first book in the Gridiron Series and it is centered on football. I absolutely love football romances and I usually cannot wait to dive into a new one. I recently saw that the third book was releasing soon so I decided it was time to finally read them. Sacked is centered on Knox Masters and Eliot Campbell or Ellie for short. Knox is team captain and the leader of the defense. Ellie is the sister to Jack’s who just transferred from junior college to play wide receiver for Western. The story is quick paced and could easily be read in […]

Review | A Mind Seduction: A book of Poems, Spoken word and Intimate Ramblings by Nicole Banks

Reviewing poetry is so personal. Each poem speaks to a person differently. This is my very first time reviewing poetry. I was fortunate enough to beta read Mind Seduction and I was even more excited to read the final product. There were certain poems I felt a personal connection to and others I didn’t, but that is poetry, right? Mind Seduction is divided into four parts: The Seduction, The Heavy Stuff, Learn to Let Go and My P.S.A.. There was something I loved about each part. The Seduction: This section is about both the seduction of an author making the reader fall in love with their words and the seduction of two lovers. My favorite lines: “And rip your heart out with my pen to make you cheer for a villain and hate the hero.” – The Writer “I’ll leave your soul, in the same condition you left my body, […]

Blog Tour + Giveaway | Written In Scars by Adriana Locke

I’ve been Adriana’s books since she gifted me a copy of her debut The Exception and I’ve been hooked on her writing ever since. Sacrifice was the book that broke me and one I considered being her best but after reading Written In Scars, I have to say that this book is her best. Written In Scars is not your typical love story where boy meets girl. Boy and girl fall in love. Boy and Girl get married. This is a story about what happens after they get married. What happens when there is real bumps in your happily ever after. Elin and Ty have been together since they were kids and have grown together both individually and as a couple. Only a couple years down the road that it seems they’ve grown apart and maybe it’s just better to let go then to fight. I loved how realistic the […]

Review: Death Wish by Megan Tayte

Death Wish had a little bit of everything mixed into it, a little magic, a little romance, a little about grieving and a little about finding oneself. Death Wish took me a while to read not because it was bad book not at all, it mostly had to do with me. Our Story Sienna and Scarlett are sisters and were born 10 months apart. Sienna runs away from boarding school and moves to an isolated cove and joins a surfing fraternity. She keeps in contact with Scarlett through emails only that they’re a bit cryptic and never really go into detail about what she’s up, what she’s thinking. One day, Scarlett is called into the Principal’s office where she finds out that Sienna has committed suicide. It’s not like Sienna to want to take her life, she’s full of life. Scarlett just cannot understand what was going through her head […]

Blog Tour -Seeking Clarity Promo, Excerpt & Review

Clarity is tired of having everything given to her and not earning any of it. She wants to know what it is like to work, actually work, and have to earn every dollar. She decides one night enough is enough she’s leaving the money behind and starting over. She’s getting a job, an apartment, she’s going to pay all her own bills with the money she’s earned and who knows maybe she’ll fall in love with a guy who wants her for her and not the money. She is quick to realize just how hard life is but I really did admire the fact that she stuck it out no matter how hard it gets. I even admired her father for her cutting her off when she made her choice so that she could know just how hard life truly is. One of my issues with her just up and […]

Review: Falling For My Best Friend’s Brother by J.S. Cooper

My Review:  I downloaded the prequel to Falling For My Best Friend’s Brother. I have to admit, I really disliked it but decided to go ahead and purchase the full novel just to see if it got better. I am really sad to say this is the first book I have ever returned to get a refund.  What was the problem with it? Because you know I love best friend’s brother kinda stories really I love them but this one just had to many problems with it. So I guess I’ll begin with the main source of the problem. ALICE Our main character. I really disliked her. I found her extremely childish, annoying and immature. I felt like she was more of a teenager first discovering boys then a 22 year old, college graduate but that’s just my opinion. I spent most of the book wondering if she was ever […]

Review: Shattered by Nicole Banks

My Review:  Nicole contacted me about reviewing Shattered. Wow!!! I was truly impressed with this book. It was like a breath of fresh air. I am seriously craving more. This isn’t your typical love story where there’s instal-love or some messy love triangle. Oh no, this is was much deeper, much darker, and real. Jasmine has gone through hell, literally. My gosh my heart ached because of all she went through. She’s healing slowly, dealing day by day with her demons. She’s still afraid and everyone around her is understanding and tries their hardest to make sure she’s dealing with everything that has happened to her. She is however incredibly strong despite what has happened. You can tell she is trying so hard to defeat her demons but they keep knocking her down. Angel has just come home from Afghanistan. He has been gone for a couple years but always […]
